Dedication The manuscript score appears to be a presentation copy with the inscription 'Seiner Majestät / Kaiser von Deutschland und König von Preußen / Wilhelm I / in tiefster Ehrfurcht gewidmet'. Wilhelm was King of Prussia from 1861 and German Kaiser from 1871.
Notes no manuscript sources in Schott-Archiv despite frequent mentions of it in the correspondence.
