The first in a series of memoirs published by Baermann in the Neueste Nachrichten und Münchener Anzeiger. In it, he recounts memories of Mendlessoh and Spontini, including the famous anecdote of Mendelssohn composing the Concertstück op. 113 while Carl cooked 'Dampfnudeln und Rahmstrudel' (steamed noodles and strudel).
